PROBLEM SIGNS · STORM DRAIN REHABILITATION

Warning signs your storm drain system needs rehabilitation before the next storm season.

Storm drain systems show specific warning signs before they fail completely — collapsed sections, sinkholes near drain inlets, foul odors from stormwater connections, and surface flooding that wasn't occurring before. Identifying these signs early is the difference between trenchless rehabilitation and emergency excavation.

WHY EARLY IDENTIFICATION MATTERS

The case for diagnosing storm drain problems before storm season.

Storm drain system failure rarely happens without warning — but the warning signs are easy to miss or misattribute. Surface flooding that's getting worse each storm season, sinkholes forming near drain inlets, odors near catch basins — each of these is a specific indicator of a specific failure mechanism.

LiningWorks identifies the cause of each symptom using CCTV camera inspection before recommending any rehabilitation scope. Camera-first diagnosis ensures the solution addresses the actual failure — not a guess based on surface symptoms alone.

STORM DRAIN PROBLEM SIGNS

What each warning sign means for your storm drain system.

Select a symptom to understand what's causing it, which pipe types are most commonly affected, and how LiningWorks diagnoses and rehabilitates each condition.

Collapsed or Cracked Pipes

Collapsed or Cracked Pipes

Partial collapse and cracking in storm drain pipe reduce hydraulic capacity and indicate structural failure — camera inspection confirms whether trenchless rehabilitation is still viable.

LEARN MORE
Foul Odors or Gases

Foul Odors or Gases

Sulfide odors near storm drain inlets and catch basins indicate organic accumulation or cross-connection with sanitary sewer — camera inspection identifies the source.

LEARN MORE
Frequent Street Flooding

Frequent Street Flooding

Street flooding during moderate storm events indicates storm drain capacity loss — from sediment accumulation, structural obstruction, or pipe failure restricting flow.

LEARN MORE
Inflow and Infiltration

Inflow and Infiltration

Groundwater or sanitary wastewater entering storm drain systems through failed joints — causing capacity problems during wet weather and regulatory compliance issues.

LEARN MORE
Sinkholes Near Drains

Sinkholes Near Drains

Surface depressions forming near storm drain inlets and along pipe routes indicate void formation from water infiltrating through failed pipe joints.

LEARN MORE
Storm Drain Blockages

Storm Drain Blockages

Recurring storm drain blockages after cleaning indicate structural obstruction — root intrusion, collapse, or significant sediment accumulation that cleaning alone cannot resolve.

LEARN MORE
Structural Corrosion

Structural Corrosion

Progressive wall loss in concrete, clay, and metal storm drain pipe from hydrogen sulfide or abrasion — camera inspection quantifies wall loss and determines rehabilitation options.

BEFORE THE NEXT STORM EVENT

Why storm drain problems are best addressed before storm season.

Storm drain system failures that can be addressed with trenchless rehabilitation become emergencies requiring excavation when they progress to complete failure during storm events.

  • Partial collapse is still CIPP-viable — complete collapse during a storm event is not
The window for trenchless rehabilitation closes when a partial collapse progresses to complete collapse. Addressing a documented partial collapse before storm season avoids emergency excavation under pressure.
  • Sediment accumulation is addressable by jetting — but only while the pipe is accessible
Sediment accumulation that reduces hydraulic capacity to flooding levels during storm events can be cleared by hydro jetting before storm season — preventing the flooding before it occurs.
  • Root intrusion that regenerates between maintenances requires lining — not more cleaning
Storm drain root intrusion that regenerates after mechanical cleaning requires CIPP joint sealing to permanently resolve — addressing it before storm season prevents blockage during peak flow events.

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

I am very happy with the work that was done and the clean up after the job was done. Jeremiah and Ralph are very professional and skilled in their craft. I received an estimate and the job did exceed the original estimate. I contacted them about it and they were very understanding and explained why.

Lining Works was excellent to work with. They were perfectly professional. They were organized, efficient, and friendly throughout the whole process. They took time to answer all of our questions. Pipe lining is an incredible option and the team at Lining Works couldn't have been better. They were also transparent, honest, and consistent with their cost/pricing. We couldn't be happier. We feel very fortunate that we found Lining Works. Great guys!

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.

WHY LININGWORKS

Camera-first storm drain problem diagnosis.

Storm drain problems have specific causes that require specific solutions. LiningWorks camera-first approach identifies the failure mechanism before any rehabilitation scope is recommended.

CCTV camera inspection identifies the specific failure mechanism

Every storm drain assessment starts with camera inspection. We identify whether the problem is structural, sediment-related, root-caused, or infiltration-related before recommending any scope.

NC Plumbing License #16952

Licensed for commercial and municipal storm drain rehabilitation throughout North Carolina — including large-diameter systems and municipal infrastructure.

Pre- and post-rehabilitation documentation

Camera condition reports before rehabilitation and CCTV verification after — providing objective documentation for property records, insurance, and municipal files.

Trenchless rehabilitation through existing storm drain access

CIPP lining, root cutting, and hydro jetting are performed through existing manholes, curb inlets, and headwalls — no excavation of roads, parking areas, or hardscape.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Get storm drain diagnosis and rehabilitation started in three steps.

Camera first — we identify the failure mechanism before recommending any rehabilitation scope.

01

Call and describe the storm drain symptoms

336-477-3218, Mon–Sat 7AM–6PM. Surface flooding, sinkholes, odors, recurring blockages — describe what you're seeing and we'll recommend the right camera assessment approach.

02

Camera assessment identifies the cause of the problem

We scope the affected storm drain system, document all structural conditions, and identify the specific failure mechanism — then develop a targeted rehabilitation scope.

03

Trenchless rehabilitation matched to the identified failure mechanism

CIPP lining, root cutting, hydro jetting, or spot repair — matched to what the camera shows. Every project closes with post-installation CCTV and written documentation.
