Recurring storm drain blockages that come back after cleaning are a structural problem.
When a storm drain system blocks repeatedly — even after professional cleaning — the blockage is not the problem. The structural condition generating the recurring obstruction is the problem. Camera inspection reveals whether root intrusion, a partial collapse, a pipe belly, or a significant offset is causing blockage to regenerate.

WHY STORM DRAINS BLOCK REPEATEDLY
Structural conditions that cause storm drain blockages to recur.
Storm drain cleaning removes the blockage temporarily but does nothing about the structural condition generating it. These are the conditions most commonly responsible for recurring storm drain blockages.
Root intrusion through joint cracks — root mass regenerates after cutting
Root masses cut by mechanical cleaning regenerate at the same joint location within weeks to months — because the entry crack or joint gap remains open after mechanical treatment.
Partial structural collapse creating a debris collection point
Partial crown collapse or significant joint offset creates a physical collection point where debris catches with every storm event — regenerating a blockage that accelerates between maintenance intervals.
Pipe belly creating a sediment trap between cleaning cycles
Settled pipe sections create a persistent low point where sediment deposits with every storm event. Cleaning removes the sediment temporarily, but the belly continues to accumulate material.
Significant offset joint creating a catch point for storm debris
Vertical joint offsets create catch points where sticks, leaves, and other storm debris accumulate — regenerating blockage condition with every storm event regardless of cleaning frequency.
Camera inspection identifies the structural source of recurring blockage.
Without camera inspection, recurring blockages are treated by increasing cleaning frequency — an endless maintenance cycle that never addresses the structural source. Camera inspection identifies the cause once.
Camera locates the exact point generating the recurring blockage
Camera inspection identifies whether the recurring blockage is caused by root intrusion at a specific joint, a partial collapse at a specific location, or a belly in a specific pipe segment.
Camera documents whether cleaning frequency is the problem or structural rehabilitation is required
Some systems simply need more frequent maintenance. Camera inspection confirms whether the blockage recurrence rate is consistent with normal maintenance requirements or indicates a structural source.
Camera footage provides the evidence for accurate rehabilitation scope specification
Pre-rehabilitation camera documentation provides the evidence needed to specify the right rehabilitation scope — whether root cutting and lining, structural spot repair, or full-run CIPP.
Storm drain pipe types and conditions most prone to recurring blockage.
Recurring blockages are concentrated in older segmental pipe systems and in pipes with known structural deterioration — particularly where root entry is possible.
Tree-lined pipe routes with aging concrete and clay storm drain pipe
Storm drain runs beneath or near mature trees in older commercial and residential developments are at highest risk for root intrusion blockage — particularly in VCP and concrete systems with open joint seals.
CMP storm drain systems with advanced invert corrosion
CMP systems with significant invert corrosion have rough, irregular invert surfaces that trap debris and sediment — generating faster blockage regeneration after cleaning than smooth-surfaced pipe.
Storm drain systems with flat gradients and low flow velocities
Flat-gradient storm drain systems move sediment slowly — allowing sediment to deposit and accumulate between storm events, regenerating blockage conditions in low-velocity sections.
Storm drains receiving high debris loads from surrounding vegetation
Storm drain inlets in wooded areas or near landscaped commercial properties with mature trees and dense ground cover receive high debris loads with each storm event — accelerating blockage regeneration.
Medical office park — recurring storm drain blockages eliminated with root cutting and CIPP lining.
A Greensboro medical office park had been managing quarterly storm drain blockages for three years — each blockage occurring in the same section of storm drain pipe beneath a landscaped median with large oak trees. Camera inspection found root intrusion at three joint locations within a 120-foot pipe run.
LiningWorks cut all root masses, hydro-jetted the full run, and installed CIPP lining through all three root-entry joints. Post-installation camera confirmed root elimination and full liner bond at all three joints. The property has had zero storm drain blockages since installation.

“Quarterly blockage service calls for three years, all in the same spot. Camera found root intrusion at three joints under the median oaks. LiningWorks cut them, lined the joints, and we've had zero blockages since. That quarterly service call is gone.”

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

I am very happy with the work that was done and the clean up after the job was done. Jeremiah and Ralph are very professional and skilled in their craft. I received an estimate and the job did exceed the original estimate. I contacted them about it and they were very understanding and explained why.

Lining Works was excellent to work with. They were perfectly professional. They were organized, efficient, and friendly throughout the whole process. They took time to answer all of our questions. Pipe lining is an incredible option and the team at Lining Works couldn't have been better. They were also transparent, honest, and consistent with their cost/pricing. We couldn't be happier. We feel very fortunate that we found Lining Works. Great guys!

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.

Lining Works responded to my request quickly and fixed my drain problem very fast. I would highly recommend you give them a call.
Camera diagnosis plus permanent rehabilitation — no more blockage cycles.
Recurring storm drain blockages require structural diagnosis, not more frequent cleaning. LiningWorks camera-first approach identifies the source and provides a permanent solution.
Camera identifies the structural source of recurring blockage
Every recurring blockage assessment starts with camera inspection — identifying root intrusion, collapse, or offset as the structural source before any rehabilitation scope is recommended.
CIPP lining permanently eliminates root-entry joints and bridging collapse sections
CIPP liner seals all root-entry joints and bridges structural collapse conditions — eliminating the structural sources of recurring blockage for the rated liner service life.
Root cutting and CIPP lining through existing access — no excavation
Root cutting and CIPP lining are performed through existing manholes and inlets — no excavation, no pavement disruption, no business interruption.
Post-installation camera confirms structural source elimination
Post-installation CCTV documents root elimination and liner bond at all previously identified blockage-generating locations — objective evidence of complete rehabilitation.
