"A previous company lined our main and two bathrooms stopped draining. LiningWorks ran the camera, found the covered laterals, and reinstated them with a robotic cutter the same day. The work the other company didn't finish — done right."
After CIPP pipe lining closes over your lateral connections, LiningWorks lateral reinstatement uses a robotic cutter guided by live camera to reopen each branch line from inside the main — no excavation, no saw-cutting.

Lateral reinstatement is the process of reopening the branch pipe connections — laterals — that were covered over when a CIPP liner was installed in the main sewer line. When a liner is pulled or inverted through a main, it naturally covers the openings where lateral pipes feed in. Those openings must be re-cut to restore drainage from every branch.
LiningWorks uses a robotic cutting head guided by live camera to locate every lateral opening through the liner and cut a precise, smooth hole at each connection point. The cutting is done from inside the pipe — no access pit, no excavation above each lateral.
Lateral reinstatement is a required step in any CIPP lining project where branch connections exist along the lined run. Skipping it — or performing it incorrectly — leaves one or more drains in the property disconnected from the sewer main.
LiningWorks performs lateral reinstatement as a standard part of every CIPP lining job where laterals are present. It is camera-verified immediately after cutting to confirm every connection is fully open.

A Charlotte lateral reinstatement job — robotic cutter guided by camera, cutting each branch connection, and final camera verify of all openings restored.
These are the four situations where lateral reinstatement is either mandatory or critical. In each case, skipping reinstatement disconnects a live drain from the sewer system.
LiningWorks lateral reinstatement is performed as part of the lining installation or as a standalone service on previously lined mains. Robotic cutter, live camera, precise cuts.
A 1963 Eastover home where a prior contractor had CIPP-lined the main but failed to reinstate two of the four laterals. Camera found two covered connections. Robotic reinstatement reopened both same-day — no excavation above either lateral.

Lateral reinstatement requires precision — an over-cut or poorly positioned cut can damage the liner or leave a partial opening. We camera-verify every cut before moving to the next. Four things define how we work.
Whether you need reinstatement as part of a new lining project or to correct a prior lining job that left connections closed.
