SOLUTION · STORM DRAIN REHABILITATION

Storm drain point repairs fix the specific failure — without rehabilitating pipe that doesn't need it.

When camera inspection confirms that storm drain failures are isolated to specific locations — a single failed joint, a localized crack, or an isolated collapse section — full-run CIPP lining is over-specification. LiningWorks point repairs install a short-section structural liner only at the confirmed failure location, providing complete rehabilitation at the identified defect without the cost of full-run rehabilitation.

WHEN POINT REPAIR IS THE RIGHT SCOPE

Four storm drain conditions that call for point repair over full-run lining.

LiningWorks recommends point repair when camera inspection confirms that defects are isolated and the surrounding pipe is in serviceable structural condition.

Single failed joint in an otherwise intact storm drain run

Where camera identifies one failed joint in a pipe run that is otherwise structurally sound, a short-section spot liner addresses the defect directly — without specifying a full-run liner for pipe that is structurally adequate.

Isolated partial collapse at a specific pipe segment

A partial crown collapse at a single location in an otherwise intact pipe run is a spot repair condition — a structural spot liner spanning the collapse section restores full cross-section at the specific defect location.

Localized crack from point loading or installation damage

Cracks caused by point loading — heavy vehicle impact, surface settlement, or construction activity — are typically isolated to the affected segment. Spot repair addresses the crack without treating unaffected pipe sections.

Post-jetting structural defect identification in an otherwise clean system

After hydro jetting reveals isolated structural defects in an otherwise clean and serviceable system, point repair addresses the specific defects identified — completing rehabilitation in a follow-on visit.

HOW POINT REPAIR WORKS

The point repair process for isolated storm drain failures.

Storm drain point repair follows the same camera-first process as full-run lining — with liner installation targeted precisely at the confirmed defect location.

  • Camera inspection confirms defect location, extent, and surrounding pipe condition
Pre-installation camera inspection maps the exact defect location and confirms that the surrounding pipe is in serviceable condition — establishing that point repair is the appropriate scope.
  • Short-section liner positioned at the confirmed defect with structural overlap on each side
A spot liner — typically 3–10 feet long — is positioned to span the confirmed defect with 2-foot structural overlap on each end, providing complete rehabilitation of the defect section with margin.
  • Post-installation camera verifies liner position and bond at the defect location
Post-installation CCTV confirms the liner is correctly positioned, fully bonded, and providing complete coverage of the defect — including both overlap sections on either side.

POINT REPAIR SPECIFICATIONS

How LiningWorks specifies and installs storm drain point repairs.

Point repair liner specification follows the same engineering basis as full-run CIPP — structural properties are calculated for the specific loading conditions at the defect location.

Liner thickness specified for the depth and loading at the defect location

Point repair liner thickness is calculated based on the specific depth, soil loading, traffic loading, and pipe geometry at the defect location — not a standard residential thickness assumption.

Same structural liner material as full-run CIPP

Point repair liners are cut from the same resin-saturated felt material as full-run CIPP liners — meeting the same ASTM structural property standards and providing the same 50+ year rated service life.

Minimum 2-foot overlap on each side of the confirmed defect

Every point repair spans the confirmed defect with at least 2 feet of structural overlap on each side — ensuring the liner extends well beyond the defect boundaries and provides complete coverage.

Post-installation CCTV confirms position and bond at the defect zone

Post-installation camera inspection verifies liner position, confirms full bond at the defect location, and documents the completed repair for property and municipal records.

THE INSTALLATION PROCESS

Step-by-step — from camera assessment to completed installation.

Each phase builds on the last — camera first, surface preparation, liner installation, and post-installation CCTV verification.

01

Camera inspection and localized jetting

CCTV maps the exact defect location and scope — then targeted hydro jetting cleans the defect area and overlap zones to ensure full liner contact with the pipe wall.

02

Spot liner positioned and cured

Short-section liner positioned at the defect with 2-foot overlap each side — cured to full structural specification.

03

Post-installation CCTV verification

Camera confirms liner position, bond, and complete coverage of the defect location for project close-out record.

BEFORE & AFTER

Corporate campus — isolated joint failure under main access drive addressed with point repair.

A Charlotte corporate campus facilities team found a single significant joint separation in an 18-inch RCP storm drain under the main visitor access drive during a routine camera inspection. The rest of the storm drain run was in good structural condition — full-run lining was not justified.

LiningWorks installed a 6-foot structural spot liner at the identified joint failure, spanning the defect with 2-foot overlap on each side. Post-installation camera confirmed complete liner bond and coverage of the failed joint. The access drive was not disrupted at any point during the installation.

“Single joint failure under the main visitor drive — rest of the pipe was fine. LiningWorks installed a spot liner from the existing manhole without touching the driveway surface. Post-installation camera confirmed complete coverage. Exactly the right scope for the actual condition.”

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

Lining Works was excellent to work with. They were perfectly professional. They were organized, efficient, and friendly throughout the whole process. They took time to answer all of our questions. Pipe lining is an incredible option and the team at Lining Works couldn't have been better. They were also transparent, honest, and consistent with their cost/pricing. We couldn't be happier. We feel very fortunate that we found Lining Works. Great guys!

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.

WHY LININGWORKS FOR POINT REPAIRS

Right-sized storm drain point repairs — accurate scope from accurate diagnosis.

Camera-first assessment means LiningWorks recommends point repair when defects are isolated — not full-run lining when the evidence doesn't support it.

Camera confirms whether point repair or full-run lining is appropriate

Defect distribution determines the scope. Camera-first assessment ensures we specify point repair for isolated defects and full-run lining for distributed defects — avoiding both over- and under-specification.

Point repair liners meet the same structural standards as full-run CIPP

Spot liners are manufactured and installed to the same ASTM structural standards as full-run liners — providing complete structural rehabilitation at the targeted defect location.

Installation through existing storm drain access — no surface excavation

Point repair installation is performed entirely through existing manholes, inlets, or cleanouts — no excavation, no pavement disruption, no surface restoration costs.

Post-installation documentation confirms defect coverage

CCTV footage confirming liner position and bond at the defect location — objective evidence of complete rehabilitation for property and municipal records.

FAQ

Storm Drain Point Repairs — Frequently Asked Questions

Short, honest answers — same way we'd explain it on the phone.

Point repairs address isolated defects in storm drain pipes — a failed joint, a localized crack, or a specific infiltration source — without rehabilitating the full pipe run. A short-section liner is installed at the defect location only.

When CCTV inspection identifies one or two discrete defects in an otherwise sound pipe, point repair is more cost-effective than full-run lining. If multiple defects are distributed throughout the run, full lining is typically more efficient.

After CCTV inspection confirms the defect location and dimensions, localized hydro jetting cleans the repair zone. A short-section CIPP liner is then positioned and cured at the defect — typically leaving a 2-foot overlap on each side.

Most storm drain point repairs are completed in half a day to a full day, including pre-repair inspection, cleaning, liner installation, and post-installation camera verification.

Yes. Every point repair includes pre-repair CCTV footage showing the defect, post-repair footage confirming liner position and coverage, and a written project record.
