Slow Drains in your home — and what they’re really telling you.
Slow drains are almost never just a hair clog. They are the first warning sign that something is wrong deeper in the line — and they almost always get worse. Here is what slow drains mean, what causes them, and how LiningWorks fixes them without digging up your yard.
Free phone consultation. Flat-rate pricing. No upsells, ever.

WHY HOMEOWNERS TRUST US
Why Charlotte homeowners call LiningWorks first about Slow Drains.
We handle slow drains the same way we handle a full sewer collapse — diagnose with a camera, quote a flat rate, fix it without digging. Four things make our slow-drain calls different.
Slow Drains diagnosed by a licensed plumber
NC Plumbing License #16952. Every slow drain we look at is diagnosed by a real licensed technician — never a dispatcher reading from a script.
Slow Drains confirmed by camera, not guesswork
Before we quote anything, we put a sewer camera down the line so you can see exactly what is causing the slow drain — with your own eyes.
Slow Drains fixed at a flat, written rate
No hourly billing while a tech “investigates” your slow drain. One flat price, in writing, before we lift a wrench.
Slow Drains repaired without digging your yard
Most slow-drain causes can be cleared, jetted, or trenchlessly lined in a single visit — no torn-up lawn, no broken concrete.
Slow Drains warning signs you should never ignore.
Slow drains are how a drain line tells you something is wrong before it backs up onto the floor. Here are the four slow-drain patterns we treat as a “call us today” situation.
Watch for these Slow Drains warning signs:
Slow Drains in more than one fixture
A single slow sink is usually local. Slow drains across two or more fixtures point to a partial blockage further down the line.
Slow Drains paired with a gurgling sound
A gurgle while a slow drain empties means air is fighting past a downstream clog. That is a drain-line warning, not a fixture issue.
Slow Drains that return days after a snake
If snaking clears your slow drain but it’s back within a week, the root cause is still inside the line — usually roots, grease, or a belly.
Slow Drains plus a faint sewer-gas smell
A slow drain that smells means standing wastewater sitting somewhere in your line. Catch this now — it turns into a backup fast.
The most common causes of Slow Drains in Charlotte homes.
We have run cameras down more slow-drain lines than we can count. Almost every case traces back to one of the four causes below — each with its own honest fix.
How Slow Drains develop:
Tree roots causing Slow Drains at the joints
Hair-fine roots slip into clay-tile or cast-iron joints, then thicken into a mass that catches everything. The #1 cause of slow drains in older Charlotte homes.
Grease & soap buildup causing kitchen Slow Drains
Cooled grease coats the inside of the pipe a little more each week. Eventually the pipe is half its diameter and every drain on the line slows down.
Bellies & sags causing standing-water Slow Drains
A section of line that has settled traps waste at the low spot. Every drain upstream slows down because the wastewater has nowhere to go.
Corroded cast iron causing whole-house Slow Drains
Decades-old cast iron rusts from the inside, narrowing the pipe and snagging debris. Slow drains throughout the home are the classic symptom.
The owners had slow drains in every bathroom for two years. The first camera scope found cracks at three cast-iron joints and a root mass at the city-tap transition. We lined the full run in one day. No slow drains since.
Almost every slow-drain repair in Charlotte follows the same pattern: scope, diagnose, jet or line, and verify on camera. One day on site, one flat price, slow drains gone.

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

I am very happy with the work that was done and the clean up after the job was done. Jeremiah and Ralph are very professional and skilled in their craft. I received an estimate and the job did exceed the original estimate. I contacted them about it and they were very understanding and explained why.

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.
