Noisy Drains — what that gurgling sound is really telling you.
Noisy drains — gurgling, bubbling, rumbling — are how your drain system signals a pressure problem. Air is being displaced by something that shouldn’t be there: a partial blockage, a vent issue, or early-stage backup pressure. LiningWorks finds the cause with a camera and fixes it before it gets worse.
Free phone consultation. Flat-rate pricing. No upsells, ever.

WHY HOMEOWNERS TRUST US
Why Charlotte homeowners call LiningWorks first for Noisy Drains.
Noisy drains are a diagnostic puzzle. The gurgling sound can come from a fixture trap, a partial blockage, or a compromised vent stack — and each source requires a different fix. Four things make our noisy drain service different.
Licensed plumber diagnoses your Noisy Drains
NC Plumbing License #16952. Noisy drain diagnosis is not a job for a generalist — it requires a licensed plumber who understands drain venting and pressure dynamics.
Camera confirms the source of your Noisy Drains
Before we quote anything, we run a sewer camera to locate the partial blockage or vent issue creating the noisy drain sound. You see it on screen.
Flat-rate pricing for Noisy Drain diagnosis and repair
One price before we start — camera inspection, clearance or repair, and post-service verification all included.
Noisy Drains fixed without digging
Most noisy drain causes — partial blockages, root intrusions — are resolved by hydro jetting or spot lining. No excavation required in most cases.
Four Noisy Drains patterns that signal a problem worth diagnosing.
Noisy drains sound different depending on the cause. These four gurgling patterns each point to a specific type of drain problem.
Noisy Drains patterns to watch for:
Gurgling drains immediately after flushing a toilet
Air displaced by a partial main-line blockage is pushed back through neighboring drains. If your sink or tub gurgles when you flush, the blockage is in the shared main line.
Noisy Drains when a washing machine or dishwasher drains
Appliance drainage sends a high volume of water through the line quickly. A partial blockage that doesn’t affect normal flow becomes audible when a large appliance drains.
Bubbling or gurgling from a drain that is also slow
Noisy drains paired with slow flow means the drain is partially blocked and air is squeezing past the restriction. This is a call-us-now situation before the backup happens.
Intermittent gurgling from a drain with no visible problem
Intermittent noisy drains without slow flow or backup often point to a vent stack issue — negative pressure pulling air through the nearest trap when the vent is partially blocked.
The most common causes of Noisy Drains in Charlotte homes.
Noisy drains are a symptom, not a cause. Our cameras have documented these four root causes in hundreds of Charlotte homes.
What causes Noisy Drains:
Partial blockage causing Noisy Drains from air displacement
Air squeezed past a 40–60% blockage creates the gurgling sound. At this stage, hydro jetting resolves the noisy drain before it progresses to a backup.
Root mass causing Noisy Drains in the main line
A partial root intrusion in the main line creates the same air-displacement gurgle as a grease blockage — only a camera tells the difference and chooses the right clearance method.
Vent stack blockage creating Noisy Drains
A blocked roof vent causes negative pressure in the drain lines. The system pulls air through the nearest available trap, creating a noisy drain sound even when the drain itself is clear.
Pipe belly causing Noisy Drains from standing water
A sagged section of drain line holds water at the low point. When flow hits the standing water, it creates a rumbling or gurgling sound that persists until the belly is addressed.
Noisy Drains, solved: a Matthews home gurgling toilet.
A Matthews homeowner had a toilet that gurgled every time the upstairs shower drained. The camera found a root mass 28 feet into the main line restricting the pipe to about 35% of its diameter. The gurgling was air being forced back through the toilet trap by the restriction.
Hydro jetting removed the root mass completely. Post-jetting camera confirmed full pipe diameter. The gurgling stopped the same visit. Flat price, one visit.

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

I received an estimate and the job did exceed the original estimate. I contacted them about it and they were very understanding and explained why.

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.
