SOLUTION · COMMERCIAL TRENCHLESS REPAIR

Commercial root intrusion elimination cuts the roots and seals the joint — permanently.

Root intrusion in commercial pipe systems doesn't respond to maintenance snaking. The root mass regrows at treated joint locations because the entry point — the cracked or separated joint — remains open after mechanical cleaning. LiningWorks eliminates root intrusion permanently by cutting the existing mass and sealing all root-entry joints with CIPP lining.

WHEN ROOT ELIMINATION IS RECOMMENDED

Four indicators that root intrusion is causing commercial pipe problems.

LiningWorks recommends root intrusion elimination when camera inspection confirms root intrusion is the primary or contributing cause of commercial pipe system problems.

Recurring backups despite regular snaking maintenance

When commercial drain lines back up on a regular cycle despite professional snaking, camera inspection typically reveals root intrusion regenerating at joint locations between service intervals.

Root mass confirmed by CCTV at one or more joint locations

Camera inspection showing established root masses at joint locations indicates structural joint openings large enough to permit root entry — requiring both mechanical removal and joint sealing.

Root-associated debris accumulation causing recurring flow restriction

Root masses in commercial lines catch debris with every flow cycle — creating a growing restriction that accelerates between maintenance intervals and eventually causes complete blockage.

Infiltration spike associated with identified root entry joints

Where infiltration monitoring data shows a wet-weather flow spike and camera identifies root masses at specific joint locations, root elimination combined with CIPP lining addresses both problems simultaneously.

THE TWO-STEP PROCESS

Why root cutting alone doesn't solve commercial root intrusion.

Mechanical root cutting removes the existing root mass — but the joint opening that allowed root entry remains. Without sealing the joint with CIPP lining, root re-entry begins immediately.

  • Mechanical root cutting removes the existing root mass
Robotic root cutters or chain flails remove root masses from within the pipe — restoring the pipe cross-section to near-full diameter at root-affected locations.
  • CIPP lining seals all root-entry joints along the full liner run
Following root cutting, CIPP lining is installed across the full affected pipe run — sealing all joint openings that allowed root entry and preventing re-entry at treated joints for the rated liner service life.
  • Post-installation camera confirms root elimination and liner bond at all joints
Post-installation CCTV inspection verifies that the root cutting was complete and the CIPP liner has fully bonded at all previously identified root-entry joint locations.

ROOT ELIMINATION PROCESS

How LiningWorks eliminates root intrusion in commercial pipe systems.

Commercial root intrusion elimination follows a defined sequence — camera documentation, root cutting, surface preparation, CIPP lining, and post-installation verification.

CCTV camera inspection documents all root intrusion locations

Pre-treatment camera inspection maps every root mass location, identifies all affected joint locations, and determines the full scope of root cutting and liner installation required.

Mechanical root cutting removes all root mass from the pipe

Robotic cutting tools remove root masses from within the pipe — clearing the full pipe cross-section at every affected joint location along the treatment run.

CIPP lining seals all root entry points

Following root cutting and hydro jetting to remove debris, CIPP lining is installed across the full treatment run — sealing all joint openings that permitted root intrusion.

Post-installation camera verifies root elimination and liner bond

Post-installation CCTV confirms complete root mass removal and full liner bond at all previously identified root-entry joint locations — providing the project close-out documentation.

THE INSTALLATION PROCESS

Step-by-step — from camera assessment to completed installation.

Each phase builds on the last — camera first, surface preparation, liner installation, and post-installation CCTV verification.

01

Camera maps all root locations

Full CCTV inspection maps every root mass and joint location requiring treatment along the full pipe run.

02

Root cutting and CIPP liner installation

Robotic cutters remove all root mass — restoring full pipe cross-section — then CIPP liner is installed through existing access to seal all root-entry joint openings along the full treatment run.

03

Post-installation CCTV verification

Camera confirms root elimination and full liner bond at all previously identified root-entry locations.

BEFORE & AFTER

Office building drain system — 4 years of recurring root backups resolved permanently.

A Greensboro office building had been managing recurring drain backups for four years — scheduling maintenance snaking every 90 days to clear a cast iron building drain line that ran under the parking lot. Camera inspection found root intrusion through four separate joint locations, with root masses regenerating within 6–8 weeks of each mechanical cleaning.

LiningWorks cut all root masses robotically, jetted the full line, and installed a CIPP liner through all four affected joint locations in a single mobilization. Post-installation camera confirmed full root elimination and liner bond at all four joints. The property has required zero maintenance service calls on that line since installation.

“Four years of 90-day snaking cycles. Camera found roots through four joints. LiningWorks cut them all out and lined the full run in one visit. We haven't had a single backup or service call on that line since — that was two years ago.”

We had a plumbing emergency around the holiday's and called a local plumbing company. They cleared the line and quoted a pretty high price to dig up my yard and fix the damaged sewer line. The next day I found LiningWorks online and called Jeremiah. He was very helpful and confident they could fix my sewer line without digging. Seemed too good to be true. The lining has been installed, yard not damaged and looks to have resolved the break. Jeremiah even offered to come back and scope it at a later time to ensure it's all good. Highly recommend Lining Works for any situation where you can't or don't want to dig. Thanks guys!

LiningWorks was top notch. We had a sewer main that got damaged and was completely blocked up. They were able to clear the drain, remove all issues, and reline the entire sewer main without cutting out my driveway and yard. And they were able to get the job done in one day. I would and plan to do business these guys again in the future and would highly recommend them to others.

Where do I begin? Let's just say I had an absolute nightmare on my hands for about 5 years with my sewage. I had one company quote me 7k after he snaked my sewage line and from there I just kept snaking it every year. I dreaded the oncoming financial disaster but I bit the bullet and called LiningWorks. BEST home decision of 5 years. Jeremiah came out and tackled this chaos with grace and integrity. He got down to the root of it — after years of money, anxiety, and frustration he found out it was a city problem! I will definitely be calling LiningWorks when my lining needs replacing. Call them now, you will not be disappointed.

Lining Works was excellent to work with. They were perfectly professional. They were organized, efficient, and friendly throughout the whole process. They took time to answer all of our questions. Pipe lining is an incredible option and the team at Lining Works couldn't have been better. They were also transparent, honest, and consistent with their cost/pricing. We couldn't be happier. We feel very fortunate that we found Lining Works. Great guys!

The main drain line in our airbnb kept clogging up, filling the house with an awful sewage smell. We had drain cleaners come out to clear the line every couple months but it finally got so bad we had to close off our bookings. LiningWorks were very prompt in coming out. We discovered tree roots had broken up our line. Our sewage line runs under a tree and 6ft deep through our crawlspace so digging it up was going to be a nightmare. Liningworks was able to cut the tree roots out and line the pipe without any digging so that it's as good as new. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing sewage line repair.

FAQ

Root Intrusion Elimination — Frequently Asked Questions

Short, honest answers — same way we'd explain it on the phone.

Tree and shrub roots seek moisture and enter pipes through joint gaps, cracks, or corrosion holes. Once inside, they grow and eventually block flow or structurally damage the pipe.

Cutting alone is temporary — roots regrow. Permanent fix combines mechanical root cutting to restore flow with CIPP lining to seal the entry joints so roots cannot re-enter.

Most commercial root intrusion jobs complete in one to two days. Camera inspection, root cutting, and CIPP lining can often be performed in a single mobilization.

No. Robotic cutters work entirely inside the pipe through existing access points — no excavation, no surface disruption, no impact to landscaping or paving.
