CIPP Lining for Large-Diameter Pipes solves the rehabilitation problems standard lining can’t reach.

CIPP lining for large-diameter pipes — 12 inches and above — requires different equipment, heavier liner material, and more precise installation than residential pipe lining. LiningWorks installs structural CIPP liners in large-diameter commercial, municipal, and industrial pipe systems across the Charlotte region.

WHAT IT IS

What large-diameter CIPP lining actually does to a deteriorating pipe.

CIPP lining installs a structural liner inside an existing pipe without excavation. For pipes 12 inches and above, the liner is specified to handle full structural loading — soil weight, traffic loading, and hydrostatic pressure — independent of the host pipe.

The process is the same as residential CIPP but with heavier felt liner, longer cure times, and larger inversion equipment. LiningWorks scopes the full run before specifying liner thickness, confirming access points, and developing the installation sequence.

Every large-diameter CIPP installation finishes with post-installation CCTV camera verification of the full liner run — confirming bond, joint coverage, and absence of voids before the project is closed out.

PIPE TYPES SERVED

Large-diameter pipe materials and applications where CIPP relining applies.

Large-diameter CIPP lining applies across a range of pipe materials, depths, and service environments — including systems that small-diameter lining equipment cannot reach.

  • Reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) in storm drain systems
RCP storm drain infrastructure ages through joint failure, hydrogen sulfide corrosion, and abrasion. CIPP lining arrests further deterioration and restores hydraulic capacity without excavation.
  • Vitrified clay pipe (VCP) sewer mains 12 inches and above
Larger-diameter VCP sewer mains suffer the same joint failures as smaller pipes — but the stakes are higher and open-cut replacement costs are significantly greater.
  • Corrugated metal pipe (CMP) in culverts and storm systems
CMP culverts corrode from the inside. CIPP lining installs inside the corrugated profile, restoring structural integrity and providing a smooth interior for hydraulic performance.
  • HDPE and PVC systems with liner or joint failures
Even relatively modern HDPE and PVC large-diameter systems develop liner failures and joint gaps. CIPP relining rehabilitates these systems entirely from the interior.

WHAT MAKES LARGE-DIAMETER CIPP DIFFERENT

Four differences between large-diameter and residential pipe lining.

Large-diameter CIPP lining is not residential lining at scale — it requires different equipment, liner specification, and installation methodology.

Heavier liner material and structural specification

Larger pipes carry greater loads — from soil, groundwater, and surface traffic. Large-diameter CIPP liners are specified to handle full structural loading independent of the host pipe.

Entry point access and manhole considerations

Large-diameter pipes require larger access points for liner inversion equipment. We assess access requirements before every project and address obstructions before installation begins.

Cure time and temperature management

Larger liner cross-sections require precise curing protocols — temperature monitoring during cure, extended dwell times, and post-cure inspection before pressure release.

Post-installation CCTV verification of full liner bond

Every large-diameter CIPP installation includes post-installation CCTV camera verification — confirming bond, joint coverage, and absence of defects throughout the full liner run.

BEFORE & AFTER

24-inch RCP storm drain CIPP rehabilitation in Southpark, Charlotte.

A 24-inch RCP storm drain under a heavily trafficked commercial parking lot showed advanced joint separation, significant root intrusion, and early-stage wall corrosion on camera inspection. Open-cut replacement would have required demolishing and repaving a substantial section of the lot.

LiningWorks installed a structural CIPP liner through the full 110-foot run — accessed entirely from manholes at each end. Post-installation camera confirmed full bond throughout. The parking lot surface was never disturbed.

LININGWORKS LARGE-DIAMETER CIPP CAPABILITIES

What we bring to large-diameter pipe rehabilitation projects.

Large-diameter pipe rehabilitation requires specific equipment, engineering, and project management experience. LiningWorks is equipped for it.

Pre-installation camera assessment of full pipe run

We scope the full run before specifying liner thickness — identifying all defects, measuring pipe dimensions, and confirming access points for installation equipment.

Liner specification based on pipe loading conditions

Liner thickness and material are specified based on pipe diameter, depth of cover, surface loading, and host pipe condition — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

NC Plumbing License #16952 — large-diameter commercial work

Our NC Plumbing License covers large-diameter commercial and municipal pipe relining throughout North Carolina.

Post-installation documentation package

Every large-diameter project receives a written installation certificate, post-installation camera footage, and as-built documentation.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Get a large-diameter CIPP lining project started in three steps.

Camera assessment first — we confirm liner specification before quoting.

01

Call with pipe size, location, and known inspection history

336-477-3218, Mon–Sat 7AM–6PM. Knowing the pipe diameter and any existing inspection data helps us scope the right assessment.

02

Camera assessment — confirming pipe condition and access

We scope the full run, measure the pipe, identify access points, and develop a liner specification based on actual field conditions.

03

Fixed-price proposal and licensed installation

We provide a written fixed-price proposal and install the liner with our NC-licensed crew — delivering full post-installation documentation at project close.
